I had to dust off the old blog because I couldn’t fit comments about this into a tweet.

“I’m ashamed of what happened in the White House yesterday. I think it is a tragedy of the first proportion that a private corporation can be subjected to what I would characterize as a shakedown, in this case a $20 billion shakedown … I apologize.”

Rep. Joe Barton (R-TX)

A tragedy of the first proportion?

British Petroleum has probably killed a million inhabitants of the Gulf, destroyed the habitat of many more, and ruined a way of life for millions of Americans who live and work on the coast. This idiot can’t think of a greater tragedy than BP paying for the cleanup.

I’ll give it my best shot …

  • Airplanes fly into the WTC and kill thousands
  • An oil rig explodes in the Gulf of Mexico and spills millions of gallons of oil into the water
  • This moron gets elected to the United States House of Representatives

I’ll stop there.
